Peter Jenkin is a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner, who was awarded the 2022 HESTA Australian Nurse Practitioner of the Year as well as the 2017 Palliative Care Australia National Award for Excellence in Palliative Care – in an аĿª½± Setting. Peter will share his insights into improving palliative care in a hospital and aged care setting including the role ELDAC can play in these settings.

Dr. Phillip Good is the Director of St Vincent’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Brisbane, offering both inpatient and home-based care. He also actively pursues his research interest in palliative medicine, and is currently appointed as an Associate Professor at the Mater Research Institute.

Kate has provided leadership and program management support to the jointly funded Comprehensive Palliative Care in аĿª½± Measure since 2020. Prior to that she was the Clinical Director for Southern Adelaide Palliative Care Services.

She spoke about Hospice in the RACF which is a contemporary and innovative approach to supporting residents in both metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia.

Prof. Liz Reymond, Palliative Medicine Specialist, Director, Brisbane South Palliative Care Collaborative, Queensland Health, QLD discussed Increasing Palliative Care Capacity in Residential аĿª½± Facilities and Home-based Palliative Care.

Assoc. Prof. Natasha Michael, Palliative Care Physician, Cabrini Health & Naomi Lewis, Clinical Manager and ELDAC co-ordinator, Villa Maria Catholic Homes discussed Cabrini Health’s Palliative Care Delivery and the Importance of Discussing a Good Death

Prof Meera Agar addressed the challenges of palliative care delivery in both a hospital and aged care setting – are they different? Do we have to develop internal palliative care services? What is access to palliative care services really like – especially in rural and remote settings.
